Proximus NXT Luxembourg accelerates cloud sovereignty with Microsoft through Azure Local Disconnected Operations
Proximus NXT Luxembourg I 10:19 am, 20th May
Proximus NXT Luxembourg today announces the strengthening of its collaboration with Microsoft through the integration of Azure Local Disconnected Operations (ALDO) into its portfolio of sovereign cloud solutions. ALDO enables organizations to operate their cloud environments autonomously, even without a connection to the public cloud when necessary.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to supporting Luxembourg-based companies and institutions in addressing their growing challenges around digital sovereignty, resilience, and regulatory compliance.
A concrete response to digital sovereignty and business continuity challenges
In a context where some organizations must ensure full control over their data and operations, ALDO enables critical services to be maintained locally while still benefiting from the Azure ecosystem.
This approach supports a fully sovereign cloud model, ensuring local control, enhanced security, and operational continuity, even in disconnected environments.
Through this collaboration, Proximus NXT Luxembourg strengthens its ability to deliver cloud solutions tailored to local constraints, while leveraging cutting-edge technologies.
Expertise built ahead of time
Proximus NXT Luxembourg participated early in the ALDO Private Preview program, working closely with Microsoft teams. This involvement enabled the development of hands-on expertise in a disconnected environment and the validation of use cases directly within its local and sovereign infrastructure.
In this context, Proximus NXT Luxembourg also took part in the Private Preview program of M365 Local, highlighting the potential of such workloads to support strategic workloads, particularly in contexts requiring high levels of sovereignty and control.
“With ALDO, Proximus NXT is expanding its existing multi-cloud and sovereign strategy, which already includes Clarence and U-flex in Luxembourg. This enables us to address a key need of our customers: combining technological innovation, operational continuity, and data sovereignty. Our goal is clear: to offer high-performance, secure cloud environments that are fully controlled locally” - Gérard Hoffmann, CEO, Proximus NXT Luxembourg.
Today, with the general availability of the solution, Proximus NXT Luxembourg is ready to support its clients in exploring and deploying these new cloud models.
“Our collaboration with Proximus NXT Luxembourg and the wider Proximus Group reflects a shared commitment to addressing sovereignty and resilience challenges. By expanding our cloud portfolio beyond the public cloud with capabilities such as Azure Local disconnected operations and Microsoft 365 Local, we support highly regulated or isolated environments so organizations can harness Azure innovation while retaining operational control over their data and operations.” - Marijke Schroos, General Manager Microsoft Belgium and Luxembourg.
Availability for customers
Azure Local Disconnected Operations is now available through Microsoft. Proximus NXT Luxembourg leverages its expertise in Cloud Services and Data & AI to support clients from advisory to implementation in designing sovereign, resilient, and innovative environments.
In line with this approach, Proximus NXT Luxembourg aims to offer a portfolio of complementary solutions tailored to the diverse needs of Luxembourgish and European customers in the areas of digital sovereignty, resilience, and compliance. The expertise developed across various environments will thus collectively contribute to strengthening the sovereign ecosystem operated locally from Luxembourg.
